So, for this post, I’ll just offer some guidelines for submissions that might be helpful.
What To Send:
- A sharp, in focus photo, showing your horse’s features and markings clearly. A full body shot is OK too, as long as your horse’s face is not too small to distinguish features. No copyrighted photos may be submitted (unless accompanied by a signed release from the photographer). Send it to me in JPEG format, if possible (it’s easier to Email) and send it to: www.LibbyPaintMyPony@gmail.com. Here’s some examples to follow:
The photo on the left can easily work for reference. Note the lighting and focus are good, and I can especially see the horse’s eye – and that’s important. Even though the whole body is not pictured, the personality of the horse is.
The photo on the right presents more of a challenge. I can “make up” the parts not clearly visible, but there is a good possibility that it won’t look enough like your horse to be acceptable. The lighting is great for the people in the photo, but the horse looses a lot of detail. And it’s those little things that make this bay the bay horse that you know and love!
2. A brief description of your horse -what’s their personality like and why they are special to you. Just tell me a bit about them – 100 words - or as few as you like - will do just fine. Also, let me know if I have permission to share any of this information in my blog, such as your barn name, bloodlines etc. – I promise to respect your privacy, and no names will be mentioned if that is your preference.
3 Share with me your favorite color, or family of colors, so I can take that into consideration when I paint. I love to play with unique color combinations.
And it’s that easy! You are welcome to send a couple of shots, say a full body and a close up of the face for reference, but please only submit one particular horse at a time for consideration.
All of the monthly paintings will be approximately 16” x 20”, unframed, as either a horizontal or vertical composition – whatever the design lends itself to best.
Paintings will be offered for sale to the horse’s owner first, at a reduced price of $250 to show my thanks for their participation for one month following completion. After that time, it will be available publicly for $500. Limited Edition glicee prints ($60) may be ordered as well. There are several options available for mounting and shipping, but we can talk more about that later.
Thanks for stopping by, I am looking forward to photos of your special horses - past or present! Join me next week – and bring a friend.
